No Beginning, No Ending
Being rushed, nervous, and scared, every person in a new environment experiences these feelings at the beginning.
In this project I hope I can create a healing pattern that will give them moral support and make them feel calm when they look at my design. I started with nature and the city, taking images of nature in each area that are full of life with the urban details that are special and hard to find in that area. I take the patterns of plants and animals from the images that symbolize nature and the colors from the details in the city.
I searched for motifs that symbolize the continuous cycle of energy from various cultures on the Chinese I-chain (where everything in nature and the human body are connected by patterns). Celtic knots (the pattern with no beginning and no end represents the roots of the oak tree and the trunk is the human body, the roots are constantly feeding the trunk with energy, there is no beginning and no end) Gothic churches with their rose windows (Jesus' prayer "May they be one, as we are one"). I was inspired by these cultures and decided to use these concepts to abstract the patterns I extracted and design patterns that have a beginning and no end to represent the way in which nature and the city can support people through the flow of energy.
I experimented with printing techniques such as devoré, heat transfers, and technical as well as cutting and leather printing.
Ultimately, I hope to create products that people can carry around with them or decorative
objects that can be used as ornaments in the home.
